Me, The Broom & Blogland

After a very restless night, I decided to give into the Broom's agitated bouncing in the corner of the kitchen & take off to visit some spots in Blogland. I really have to teach the Broom that just because I cannot sleep, that does not mean we have been given clearance for take off. Of course my sciatic nerve did ease up during the flight but that means no more sleep for me today. Here is where we went!

Gasp!!!!! She Mentioned Unmentionables!

Yes my Blogland Peeps, I am breaking the rules once again...(a girl had to have her fun...right?) I am posting about those pesky things almost all women rely on thanks to the cruel force of gravity.........the bra. I prefer the under wire type to keep my womanly shape looking womanly & not like Carol Burnett playing Charo's mother.

The other day one of my under wires broke. Darn near pierced a lung. Sure, I could get home, take it off & toss it in the trash. But hey...these things are not cheap. And  I am not afraid to admit that I detest shopping for new bras. Every make had their own ideas of how much a DD cup should hold. Try finding the DD cup in a 34. Very tough (at least where I live) You have to try them on cause sometimes even your favorite brand will turn on you & redesign everything. So in my desperation I turned to my "stash o under wires" When a bra wears out but the under wires are still good, I cut the side of the bra & pull out the under wire. Then as it happened in this case, when disaster strikes I have back ups to save the day! First I remove the broken under wire by using my handing box cutter to cut a slit at the outer part of the the cup. Not in the front....the outer part. Here is a pic of what almost killed me:

I know ......."ouch". You would think the makers would coat the entire wire in plastic to help save lives but alas, they seem not to care.

I remove the broken wire & insert a replacement.

Make your slice right about here. Note that is does not matter what side you cut to get replacement wires since that article is being trashed to save the day.

Insert your new wire & sew the slit closed. Make sure this is sewn up really well cause you do not want your new wire to try & sneak out of the fabric while you are wearing the newly revamped unmentionable.
So there you are my Blogland friends. This tip can save you bucks & time & the attempt of a Victoria's Secret employee trying to fit you with a Madonna type bra that makes you look like you are out to bomb a small country. Hope some of you find this tip useful!

Me & The Broom & My Day Off

My Broom let me sleep in a bit this morning! I think I have D'Artagnon to thank for that. The other morning the Broom got him in trouble waking me up, so I do believe he was on alert this AM for just that thing. When I did wake up, the Broom was standing in the corner of the bedroom sulking & D'Artagnon was sitting on the pillow above my head.....glaring at my Broom. Must remember to give the cats some tuna juice today. ( they love the water the tuna is packed in in the can & we call that tuna juice) The Broom took me to some new places today along with some others we love to visit.

Me & the Broom ...At It Again

Hey Blogland! Me & the Broom were out flying over Blogland & poofing in here & there. Visited some folks we have not seen in while & generally having a wickedly awesome time. My Broom woke me early as is his normal thing to do.  The sneaky thing tickled D'Artagnon's nose with his bristles until the cat sneezed on me. (D'Artagnon sleeps above my head) So, after I washed the cat snot off of my face & had a cup of coffee, we were off!

Plotting Make-Overs For After The Move

Hello Blogland. Today I am sharing with you some of the items that are making the move with us from warm & sunny Florida to the frozen tundra of PA. Once there, I will be deciding what goes where & how I will be redoing the different pieces. (people....I am gonna be busy) So, lets consider this the post of "before" photos. Once we are moved the "after" photos will be posted & compared. Okay, on to the stuff!

Our first model is this hutch type thingy that is in my office right now. Yes, it holds some of my Wiccan items & some hand cream from Avon. The little "dresser" on the bottom shelf holds my various herbs. It too will be getting a make-over.

Here is a shot of the top of it. With it's little arch. I am thinking maybe doing something different with the top of this piece. I am still mulling it over though & not quite sure just what that will be.
(yes the walls in my office are purple!)

And here is a nicely blurred shot of the top of the 3 sets of drawers below.

Next is this role top disaster desk that the Hubs rescued from an estate sale next to one of our old cleaning contracts. This will be stripped and redone along with new drawer pulls. My cat Ramses has been using the front of the drawers for a scratching place. I have to find a way to stop this treatment of my furniture. The squirt gun has no effect on Ramses.

This is a piece I got while dumpster diving one day. Actually, I was taking out the garbage to the dumpster at the first place we lived at after moving here to Florida. It was an apartment complex. I was tossing the trash bag in when I noticed the legs of this table sticking up. So, I pretty much climbed in & got it. I was so tickled & have been plotting the remake of this piece ever since. If we were staying in Florida this would be painted black cause I was going to do our bedroom in black & silver. That of course is not happening now.

This desk sits in our bedroom & was going to be painted black also. This goes along with the hutch type thingy that is in my office. This too will be redone some sort of way to reflect the country atmosphere we will be living in.

This shows what happens when your husband rearranged crap in your house when you are not home. When the large screen television came as a Christmas gift from my mother-in-law & did not fit in our entertainment center, this is how he made a spot for the stereo/cd player. Since we are moving, I just walk past this & shake my head. Men! This will also be redone. This also needs to be redone!

These dressers that hold the monster television are once again going back into a bedroom when we move & will be redone accordingly.

Here sits my sad & neglected entertainment center. Once a proud piece of furniture it sets rejected eagerly awaiting it's revival into something once again, totally awesome. I plan to put shelves in the center part & add some paint.

This little table we inherited somewhere down the line here in Florida. It sits in our Florida Room & needs some TLC to be sure. Okay, honestly.....it is hideous. But I know that I can turn it into something eye catching.

And finally, this old rocking chair that D'Artagnon is lounging in will be given a new lease on life also.  Some paint & some country accents will spruce up this old boring chair in no time.
As you can see my Blogland friends, I will have my hands full with this move & all the stuff I have to redo to make them do-able.  Realistically.....most of this crap should have been done a long time ago. Guess I was putting it off for a reason.

Any suggestions on what some of these pieces should look like once revamped?

Explaining My Absence From Blogland

Okay, I promised I would explain my absence from Blogland in more detail at a later date. Well, it is a later date & I will share with all of you my story. It started with my entire left hand & forearm going numb. (no fun when you rely on that left hand cause you only have half the use of the right hand & arm) That also made it fun at work. I carry plates & trays with my left hand. Working 6 days a week did not help it either I am sure. I now have feeling in my thumb, pointer & middle finger ( what a relief it was to get the use of the middle finger back since I use it a lot while driving here in Florida traffic in the on season for tourists) The ring finger & pinky are still numb along with most of the palm & that side of the forearm. No, I do not know what is going on with it, as that would require a trip to the doctor. Also you will remember that my oldest grandson, Ryan had his tonsils taken out due to the fact they were enlarging & blocking his airway.

I am sure you remember this shot of him after a dose of "Joy Juice"
Well, while at the hospital, he developed a non-curable infection called Henoch-Schenlein Purpura. It attacks the kidneys & causes reoccurring  rashes on the lower limbs. Here is a link if you what to know more: Link

Then, my mother-in-law came for a visit. This was not a bad thing as she is a wonderful woman & we get along great. (I know...lucky me!)

Then our rabbit, Bandit D. Bunny, developed a "wonky" back leg.

Bandit

We took him to a Vet that was listed in the House Rabbit Society page as having ample knowledge of rabbits. We all did our own research too, including Bandit.

Bandit wearing his reading glasses

After getting the full blown run around from this Vet, & Bandit's other hind leg started getting "wonky" we took him to our other Vet, Dr. Rumore (whom we trust very much cause he is awesome) We found out that Bandit had a tumor on his spine & he had lost a lot of muscle mass. The poor guy couldn't even scratch his own ear. We would do it for him. So....on February 15th our tough guy Bandit died.

We miss you da Bundit

Our cats, D'Artagnon & Ramses both miss him too. They have spent hours looking for him.
Then, on a lighter note.....our grandson Ryan turned 12 yrs old.
This little girl, our granddaughter Jessica, turned 1.
And Bradley, my son's middle child turned 6yrs old.

All three Birthdays fell in the same month & they are all my son's children.

On top of everything else, I had the Bubonic Plague or the flu or something at least four different times since the first of the year. Not to mention some computer problems That I was & still am having.

We have also been overwhelmed with planning our move from Florida to the frozen tundra of Western PA.  The Hubs & me checked into a moving company, but they want $2,500.00 & we would be without our stuff for up to 2 weeks.  So now we are trying to make sure we get the right size truck to hold all our stuff. Our son, Shannon will be helping us drive one of our vehicles during this cross country trek.

My son is also moving to PA. with his family which makes this Momma very happy!  My daughter-in-law Tiffany has already lined up job interviews up there in Uniontown.

I am now working only 5 days a week instead of 6. This is a very good thing for me. If all goes as planned, I will be quitting my job by the 15th or so of March & can start some serious packing. The Hubs is going up to PA. the beginning of March to check some things out & get photos. I can hardly wait to get started redecorating the 100 year old house we will be living in! Oh, just imagine the stuff I can post here for all of Blogland to see!

Thanks for sticking by me my interweb friends.

Me & The Broom...Back In The Saddle!

And Hello again Blogland. The Broom & me are off & flying again! Here are the awesome people & places we visited today. My Broom was so happy to hit the skies over Blogland today. I felt so bad for the guy waiting for this day to come about again. I won't say he was patient......I will say he was a tad bit irritated with me for the delay but he does understand that sometimes stuff happens that can rain on one's parade.
